Last May, I was going through a really tough part of my life. I was beginning to realize that I wasn’t enjoying my job anymore. The time commitments that went along with it didn’t allow me to live the lifestyle that I wanted. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with my family, and I hardly got to see my friends. I was getting caught up in my job, and putting all of my time, energy, and effort into it without realizing that I was not living my life the way I wanted.
One day I hit what felt like rock bottom. I knew I needed to make some changes. So, I made a list. I knew what was important to me, and I wanted to make a visible list to use as a guide to hold me accountable. I would be lying if I said I made all these changes in my life that single day. I’ve had so many incredible people help me along the way, and I’m so grateful for them.
Simply put, without your health nothing else matters. Mental health, physical health, and spiritual health. Be active, eat healthy, be present and mindful.
- Family and Friends
Telling the people in your life that you love and appreciate them is so important. I never truly understood how much people cared about me until I shared what I was going through and feeling. My friends and family were so supportive, it truly opened my eyes to just how special the people in my life are; never wait for a special moment to tell them how much you care about them.
- Follow Your Passion
Do something that you love everyday. It is easy to get caught up in life and worrying about things that cause temporary distress, but for the sake of sanity, and purpose- DO SOMETHING THAT BRINGS YOU HAPPINESS EVERY SINGLE DAY.
The optimism of this list is that #3 and #4 work in harmony. I’ve always said that I want my career/job to have purpose, but I never want it to surpass the aforementioned priorities- unless of course it is my passion. In which case, I’m doing it right!
The overarching theme to my list is to live with purpose and be mindful. If you can do this, I really beleive that you’ll see a diffrence in your life.
