I recently moved to Grand Rapids, MI. The purpose of the move was to finish up grad school- truth be told I actually moved for the food down here.
Last week I checked out The Green Well – Gastro Pub. I had been there one time before, but it was back when my oldest sister was in school at Grand Valley State, so it had been awhile. The best part about this trip was that I was accompanied by my parents, oldest sister Hailey, and my fiancé Gabrielle!
The atmosphere was awesome; the food was even better!
I ordered the Amish Chicken and Waffles. I’m a huge fan of chicken and waffles, but this was a different take on a Southern comfort food classic. The bourbon maple syrup absolutely killed it. The cornbread waffle was something different, but they make it work so well.
Lucky for me, my family didn’t bring their appetites. So, being the good son, brother, and fiancé that I am, I helped them out a little.
My mom and fiancé both got the Michigan Turkey sandwich. It was my favorite among all of my “samples.”Quite simply it was DELICIOUS.
My dad got the Cuban sandwich. This was also awesome; the zesty pickles really did it for me.
My sister got the Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich. I’m a HUGE fan of barbecue, but this had some unique flair. Very much welcomed flair- of course, but I’ll stick with the traditional barbecue.
Oh, last thing- truffle fries. The dijon aioli that comes with the truffle fries will make you cry tears of happiness. If you don’t upgrade to truffle fries with your entrée you’re doing it wrong. So good ahead and upgrade me.
I absolutely loved The Green Well Gastro Pub. I will definitely be recommending it to anyone looking for some food with flair for a reasonable price!
